Finally got the Macan brakes sorted without re-mortgaging and I can actually stop smiling while I drive

Had that horrible metal on metal screech start up last Tuesday pulling into the Dubai Mall parking and I knew I'd been putting off the brake job for way too long because the dealer quote from a few months back had me mentally blocking out the entire situation and pretending it would just go away on its own which of course it didn't and only got worse until I was that guy announcing his arrival at every traffic light with a sound like a dying cat and I finally caved and started looking up independent options because I refuse to pay Porsche Centre Dubai prices for what is essentially a fancy Audi Q5 underneath and a colleague who tracks his Cayman pointed me toward a place that does a lot of work on the newer Macans and Cayennes and said they use the exact same Brembo or Textar pads without the Porsche tax and I figured worst case I'm out a few hundred dirhams for the diagnostic and I can always go back to the dealer with my tail between my legs but honestly it was the best decision I've made with this car so far and the technician even showed me the old pads which were completely glazed on the inner side probably from all the stop and go traffic on Sheikh Zayed and the new ones bite so much better and there's barely any dust on my wheels after a week which is a miracle I didn't think was possible with German brakes and if anyone else is in the same boat trying to decide whether to just bite the bullet or find a specialist I'd say visit here if you want to see what kind of options exist for the different Porsche models before you commit to a five figure dealer invoice for something that's literally just a wear item at the end of the day and now I can actually enjoy the sound of the sports exhaust again instead of cringing every time I touch the brake pedal.
