I’ve heard a lot of Christians (including myself before I was married) say that the hardest part of dating is just finding someone, ANYONE, who is a Christian, close to their own age, and single. It is increasingly difficult to find single people who want a Godly relationship that will result in marriage. The dating scene is flooded with people looking for “something casual”, and of course lots of people who just aren’t Christian. Where exactly are Christians supposed to go to meet someone? Bars? Dating apps? Parties? At work? Church would be a better option than any of those, but I would not feel comfortable asking someone out at Church. It just doesn’t feel like the time or place. If your church hosted a singles-only event, with the clear intention of helping people find long-lasting Godly relationships, would you go? Would you let your kids go? It’s the Church’s business to marry people and provide guidance for married couples, I don’t see why it shouldn’t be the church’s business to help people meet their future spouses.
