Bought a used car that smells like an ashtray and curry house combined, need a miracle

Fri Apr 10, 2026 2:21 pm

I finally found a 2017 Honda Accord that checked all the mechanical boxes and the price was too good to walk away from but I think I now understand why because the previous owner must have been a chain smoker who really loved his biryani and never once rolled down a window and the fabric seats have absorbed a decade of aromas that hit you like a wall the moment you open the door even after I've had the windows cracked for three days straight and left like four of those little baking soda boxes under the seats. I tried renting one of those upholstery cleaners from the supermarket and spent an entire Saturday scrubbing away and honestly the water coming out was a color I don't want to describe but the smell just kind of came back with a vengeance the next morning like it was mocking my efforts and my girlfriend refuses to get in the car which is starting to become a real problem for weekend plans. I'm at the point where I need to just hand it over to professionals who have the heavy duty extractors and maybe an ozone machine or whatever dark magic they use to neutralize this kind of embedded funk and I stumbled across www.exoticcarcare.ae/car-upholstery-abu-dhabi while searching for places that do deep interior sanitation and not just a quick vacuum and spritz of cheap air freshener that just makes it smell like a flower shop inside a cigar lounge. Anyone else ever successfully decontaminated a car interior that was this far gone or should I just start looking at full seat cover replacements and maybe a new headliner while I'm at it because I really don't want to give up on the car just yet but my nose is staging a rebellion.
