How do I stop wanting a girlfriend and just be happy being single? I've recently been going through a spell where I badly want a girlfriend.

Not even for the typical guy reasons of just wanting someone to have sex with, I just seriously crave having someone to share life itself with and it's getting so bad that it's all I think about, especially because I'm not in a position where it's really that feasible. I'm not happy with my physicality, I'm working on it and for the time being I don't have a ton of confidence in my looks, but there's nothing I can do to rush the process. My problem is I just feel cripplingly lonely recently :[ it feels like the only one who actually cares about my day to day is my mom, which is great to have but it also feels really bad. These feelings tend to arise when I get a taste of what having a girlfriend feels like (after a while of being single I kind of forget" how it feels) but the relationship doesn't work out.
